Sherpa and his Yak

A COLD AFFAIR

The Story of Quinn and Henry

There once was a sherpa named Quinn. He lived far out in the mountains where almost no one ever came around, except for the occasional yak. As a young infant, Quinn was dropped from an airplane by his parents who had successfully just become the first couple ever to reach the top of Mt. Everest with a baby. The day Quinn turned 5 years and 216 days old, he realized that if he wanted to survive out in the unforgiving Himalayas, he needed clothes. After 20 brutal years of running around butt naked in -40 degrees, a creature he had never seen before appeared. The sun was shining directly into his eyes as the gigantic beast marched slowly towards him. The monster jumped on to it’s back legs and blocked the sun just long enough for Quinn to get a peek at the...

Super duper round most awesome Yak in the entire world! His name was Henry and happened to be a very friendly Yak. Henry told Quinn that he had decided to leave his family because all they cared about was hay. Henry didn’t like hay. He didn’t like the way it would get stuck in his teeth and he actually preferred the taste of snow anyways. Henry noticed that Quinn wasn’t wearing any clothes and politely offered Quinn some of his fur so he could make some. Quinn was so grateful and thanked Henry so many times that it actually got kind of annoying, but Henry also knew that Quinn probably had never seen a Yak before and therefore didn’t know that his fur would grow right back.

Quinn and Henry became very close friends and almost never had fights. The only time they had ever gotten in a fight was when Quinn yelled at Henry. It had been 3 years since Henry had given Quinn his fur and he still hadn’t figured out how to knit. Quinn was feeling especially cold one day and accidentally ripped a pair of pants that he had been working on for almost a year and a half. This caused him to snap at Henry,  but Quinn quickly apologized because he knew he wasn’t really angry at Henry but was just feeling a little bit envious of his large fluffy coat. Henry figured that Quinn was probably pretty freaking cold at this point and accepted the apology. Now that Quinn has become better at knitting they don’t really get in to fights anymore.

At night time it would get extremely cold. Even though Quinn finally had clothes and a sleeping bag insulated with yak fur, the only way to stay warm was to make Henry squeeze in to the tent and snuggle with him. Quinn thought this was annoying and so did Henry because of how hot and sweaty Henry would get at night. Henry had grown up in the coldest part of the Himalayas, and as a result his fur was thick and extremely warm. Quinn and Henry will never forget the day when they learned how to make a fire because now they wouldn’t have to share a tent together, but more importantly they were getting pretty sick of eating frozen food! They threw a killer party and even though no one showed up they still had a blast because they kind preferred just hanging together anyways.
